AITHYRA is a new, dynamic institute in Vienna, Austria, dedicated to advancing a biomedical revolution by connecting cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence with transformative Life Science research. Supported through generous funding from the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation and hosted by the Austrian Academy of Sciences, AITHYRA is building a world-class environment where AI specialists, experimental scientists, and engineers collaborate to push the boundaries of biomedical innovation. In February 2025, AITHYRA moved into its first laboratory and office space in the Marxbox at the Vienna BioCenter. In cooperation with the Vienna Business Agency, a new, jointly developed research building will be built by 2029.
AITHYRA's mission is to transform the way life sciences are conducted using AI to drive the biological revolution in the next decade, with the ultimate goal of improving human health.
Are you passionate about uncovering how viruses interact with the immune system?
The Nomburg Lab at AITHYRA is seeking a motivated research technician to join our interdisciplinary team that combines AI, structural biology, and high-throughput virology to decode the virus-host conflict.
The Nomburg Lab pairs computational and experimental methods to study viruses, with a special emphasis on characterizing the interplay between viral proteins and cellular immunity (see Nomburg et al., Nature 2024 https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-024-07809-y).
We combine structure-guided bioinformatics, massively scaled experimental validation, and artificial intelligence to systematically study the virus-host conflict.

The successful candidate will support the research and operations of the Nomburg lab. This position will require experience with wet lab molecular biology techniques including tissue culture and cloning. We are looking for a candidate who is not only passionate about their research, but also able to communicate effectively with team members and collaborate with colleagues in other labs.
This position is suitable for candidates with 1-2 years of wet lab experience.
Candidates with additional years of relevant wet lab experience are also encouraged to apply and may be considered for a different job title and compensation based on their qualifications. While this is a wet lab position, there will be opportunities to build and develop computational skills if desired.
Apply online with your CV (highlighting relevant strengths and qualifications), a cover letter detailing your research background, fit for the position, interest in the Nomburg lab, and contact details for two references.
Application review begins immediately and continues until filled.
We welcome your application!
