VRVis, Austria's largest research institute for Visual Computing, is looking for a skilled and creative mind.

We offer an open-ended position to a Postdoc researcher (f/m/d) with an AI background and a keen interest in the field of environmental simulation for climate-adapted planning.

You will join our Integrated Simulations R&D-team of highly motivated researchers and software engineers who enjoy finding innovative solutions in a constructive and friendly atmosphere. Your work results will be integrated into the software scenarify, VRVis' simulation software solution for decision support in climate change adaptation and disaster management.

Postdoc Research Engineer (f/m/d) for AI in Environmental Simulation

Your job

• Strengthen the AI competence in the research group Integrated Simulations
• Accelerate simulations with data-driven and physics-driven AI in the microclimate and water domain
• Develop solutions to derive parameters from images and sensor data (photos, satellite imagery)
• Research on AI-driven interfaces for simulation-based decision support systems
• Supervise PhD and Master students, and publish own research results

Your background

• A PhD degree with focus on AI methods in mathematics, physics, environmental engineering, computer science, or a related field
• Experience in applying AI techniques to solve complex real-world problems
• Good programming skills
• Good written and spoken English. German is appreciated, but not required

Salary

The actual minimum salary is 3,843 EUR gross per month (on a 38.5-hour basis), the actual salary depends on your qualifications and experience. The salary is paid 14 times per year. The collective agreement Informationstechnologie, Datenverarbeitung (IT) applies.

Overtime

Any accrued overtime is covered by a flat-rate payment.
