The IHS - Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna is a leading non-university research institute that creates empirically based knowledge on significant economic and social challenges of our time. It delivers excellent applied basic research and impartial scientific policy advice, combining economic and social science perspectives. IHS is looking to fill the following position in its newly established "Competence Center Survey Research".

Staff Scientist (f/m/d, 35h/week)

Your responsibilities

As staff scientist at IHS, you will support an inter-disciplinary team in the implementation and analysis of complex surveys throughout all phases of data collection and processing.

• Carry out statistical analyses and prepare reports
• Program syntaxes for data preparation and plausibility checks
• Maintain project-specific databases
• Support helplines and field management
• Revise, translate and program questionnaires
• Ensure smooth collaboration within national and international research teams

About you

• You hold a Master's degree in economics, sociology, statistics, data science, or a related field
• You have a sound knowledge of statistical methods for applied economic and social research, professional experience in implementation and analysis of complex surveys, panel surveys, and international surveys is a plus
• You are an experienced programmer (e.g. R, STATA, Python, Matlab) and have a very good command of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English
• You are a team- and service-oriented personality with a structured and independent way of working

Salary

The salary is 4,282.85 EUR gross per month (on a 35-hour basis).
